CCI NS Webinar - Creating a Safe Community
Date: Wednesday, February 26, 2025
Time: 7:00 to 8:30 pm
When was the last time the fire alarm went off in your dwelling? What happened? If in a building, did everyone get out of the building, or did some just ignore the alarm? What do you have in place for medical emergencies? Can paramedics get quick access to someone in need? Do you have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) available if required? Do people in your community feel safe and secure within their dwellings or buildings? We often take safety for granted within our communities. The board has a responsibility to ensure that their community is a safe one. Tonight, we’ll look at health and safety within our corporation, fire prevention procedures, use of cameras and other security equipment to keep residents as safe as possible.
Updated details on our exciting panel members for this webinar, including:
Lori A. Errington, Senior Manager Planning and Preparedness from the Department of Emergency Management, who will speak on personal preparedness and safety tips, as well as some new things coming soon for all Nova Scotians (vulnerable person registry).
Matt Covey, P.Eng., Division Chief Halifax Regional Fire and Emergency Services who will talk on things to consider in and on our properties in creating a safe, prepared and responsive community.
Kim Ryder, Senior Condominium Property Manager, Canmar Services, who will speak on property management safety procedures in place at condo properties including how to handle some security issues within condo communities and addressing safety concern issues with aging residents.
Whether you live in a condo multi-story building or townhouse, or even single dwellings there will be something for you.
